Unkal Lake

Unkal Lake is one of the most popular tourist spots in Hubli. The big statue of Swami Vivekananda that stands amid the lake adds to its beauty. Unkal Lake is spread over an area of 200 acres and pulls a huge crowd especially during the weekends.

The lake has been an integral part of Hubli-Dharwad since more than a century and is also the main source of water in the city. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden that offers enough space for the visitors to hang around.

Nrupatunga Betta

This is yet another popular tourist spot in Hubli. This hillock not only attracts the people from Hubli-Dharwad but also from the near by cities and towns. You can enter this picnic spot by purchasing a nominally priced ticket.

The place is well maintained and was recently beautified by the Dharwad district administration. Several lamp posts have been installed in the pathway that leads to the hillock. The lamps are all lighted in the evening and the place looks enchanting.

Nrupatunga Betta also includes a Children Park that has various joy rides including swings, see-saw, slides and merry go-rounds. Thus, it serves as a preferred spot for the children too. A vegetarian restaurant has also been set up here. This restaurant set up by ISKCON offers various delicious cuisines including some of the popular dishes of Hubli such as Girmit and Mirchi Bhajii.

Indira Gandhi Glass House

Indira Gandhi Glass House located in Hubli is a beautiful palace built entirely of glass. It stands amid the famous HDMC garden. The glass house was inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi, the former Indian Prime Minister and was thus named after her. It is said to resemble the Lalbagh Garden located in Bangalore.

The Glass House boosts of sprawling green lawns and a big skating ground. A laughter club was also inaugurated here in April 2000 to spread joy and smiles. Several people gather here for laughing exercise which is held for half an hour every morning. The exercise, held free of cost, helps in keeping fit.

Indira Gandhi Glass House has been maintained well and is a preferred venue for hosting different exhibitions, flower shows and cultural events. Various renowned personalities have also been honored at the glass house. The appeal of an event increases when celebrated at this panoramic place. Gangubai Hangal Memorial Musical Museum

This museum has been dedicated to the renowned Indian classical singer Gangubai Hangal. It is actually the house where she grew up that has been restored and converted into a museum. It was inaugurated in March 2005 in the presence of Hindustani vocalist Pandit Jasraj and Chiranjeev Singh, the Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary.

Gangubai had been bestowed with several certificates and awards during her lifetime and all these have been displayed in the museum. The museum also contains the photographs of different eminent musicians. Gramophone records have also been placed here for public display.
